Who We Help
Babies & Toddlers
(0-3 years old)
Infant and early childhood mental health interventions focus on building and maintaining the important relationships between infants, babies, and toddlers and their parents/caregivers to ensure healthy social and emotional development.
Children
(4-12 years old)
Children benefit from therapy by gaining a safe space to express and understand their emotions, learning effective coping strategies to manage stress, and improving behavioral and social skills. Therapy can help address underlying causes of challenging behaviors and enhances relationships with peers and family.
Teens
(13-19 years old)
Adolescence is a crucial period of our development: physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. Teens are going through a heightened period of puberty and hormonal changes. We are aware of the specific needs that teens face and are here to provide support.
Young Adults
(20-29 years old)
Young adults are embarking on life after high school, which includes many difficult life choices, such as attending higher education, finding a trade, taking time off, traveling, and finding a job. During these formative years we would like to help you as you write the story you were meant to!
Adults
(30-69 years old)
If you are a single adult, a parent seeking support, or are engaged in a conflict with your family or significant other, look no further. We would love to support you and your family as you work through whatever may be holding you back from experiencing the joy of love and family.
Older Adults
(70+ years old)
Older adults might turn to therapy to navigate the complex emotions that come with life changes, such as retirement, loss, or chronic health issues. Therapy can help you reflect on your experiences, find new meaning, and develop strategies for a fulfilling and balanced life.
Ways We Can Help
Individuals
Individual therapy is a process of one-on-one engagement with a therapist in a safe, caring and confidential environment. Individuals will explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. They will also work through potential challenges or memories with an intention of identifying aspects of their lives they would like to improve and better understand. The therapist will help them create personal goals and work toward a desired change.
Couples
We provide mediation and resolution for both partners in all stages and phases of their relationship. Our goal is to help both individuals feel heard, understood, and loved.
Families
Family therapy focuses on identifying family dynamics and working toward resolving issues that cause distress. We strive to find compromise where every member of the family system feels that they are being heard. Family therapy can include, but is not limited to: parent-child, siblings, re-married or blended families or multiple generations of members.
Our Specialized Approaches to Helping
Parenting & Co-Parenting Support
We support parents and caregivers through managing their children’s behavioral needs. We help parents shape their home environment and family system through individualized parent coaching and support.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a method of psychotherapy for children in which a therapist gleans symbolic meaning from a child’s fantasies and imaginary play. Observing and participating in a child’s way of play helps create a safe space where the child is able to feel understood. Naturally, the child becomes more relaxed and is more open to communicate their feelings.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Trauma-Informed Therapy is centered on the understanding of the emotional, neurological, psychological, social, and biological effects of trauma. When young people experience trauma, their well-being can be adversely affected throughout their lives. We use this as not only a foundation from which our therapy services are provided, but also to help our clients identify, target, and work through their specific trauma and healing.
Nature-Based Therapy
Nature-Based Therapy focuses on the healing power of nature through interactions with plants, animals and natural landscapes. If sitting in the confines of a therapy office makes you uncomfortable, join us outdoors. You can help us tend to our garden, we can sit in our hammock swings, you can pick a bouquet of wild flowers for a loved one, or simply bring a blanket and enjoy a peaceful session by one of our hidden ponds on the property.
Christian Counseling
Integrating religion and spirituality with evidence-based therapeutic approaches allows you to bring your whole self into the therapy room and develop coping strategies that make sense for your personal beliefs. We can draw on the principles and values that are most important to you and use your faith to bolster your well-being.
Maternal & New Parent Mental Health Support
The path to becoming a parent is a thrilling adventure brimming with joy, love, and personal growth. However, it can also bring stress, anxiety, and emotional turbulence. The transitions involved in pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care can significantly impact mental health. We can help you adjust to the significant changes of parenthood and improve relationships with partners and family.
Expressive Arts Therapy
Expressive Arts Therapy encourages individuals at all ages to connect with those deeply creative and intuitive parts of themselves. These parts tend to be neglected but we believe if a safe space is provided, it can reveal and heal the deepest and darkest of wounds.
Substance Use Treatment
If you’re ready to get help for your substance use, let us guide you in finding a way out. We are here to provide emotional support, build your toolkit of coping skills, help you recognize and change your behaviors, and support you in maintaining sobriety.
Crisis Consultation & Referrals
Crisis consultation is a specialized approach to addressing the needs of individuals and families experiencing severe distress. Crisis challenges are typically defined as anything presenting immediately that is beyond our current adaptability to cope. Referrals will be placed if a higher level of care or intervention is required.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy is a treatment designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. It involves using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while the individual focuses on distressing memories, helping to reprocess and integrate these experiences. EMDR aims to reduce the emotional charge of traumatic memories and promote healing and resolution.
Where We Offer Therapy
Office Based
Our preferred method of therapy is face-to-face at our practice office in Howell, MI. We believe the best engagement and relationship building happens in-person. We provide a range of therapy services and want you to get the most from your sessions with your therapist.
Walk & Talk
Walk and talk therapy is a unique practice that combines traditional talk therapy with the physical exercise of walking. Walking stimulates both sides of the brain to promote and maintain mental health. The option to hold sessions outdoors allows clients to move, both literally and figuratively.
Teletherapy
Commuting to our office may not be the best use of your time! If you are meeting us during a lunch break, taking an hour for your mental health during your child’s nap time, or simply don’t want to get caught in traffic, teletherapy may be the best option for you.
