Babies & Toddlers
(0-3 years old)
Infant and early childhood mental health interventions focus on building and maintaining the important relationships between infants, babies, and toddlers and their parents/caregivers to ensure healthy social and emotional development.
Children
(4-12 years old)
We use a variety of therapy modalities to help children and youth. We are passionate about play-therapy and incorporate interactive modalities including; art, music and yoga therapy.
Teens
(13-19 years old)
Adolescence is a crucial period of our development: physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. Teens are going through a heightened period of puberty and hormonal changes. We are aware of the specific needs that teens face and are here to provide support.
Young Adults
(20-29 years old)
Young adults are embarking on life after high school, which includes many difficult life choices, such as attending higher education, finding a trade, taking time off, traveling, finding a job. During these formative years we would like to help you as you write the story you were meant to!
Adults
(30+ years old)
If you are a single adult, a parent seeking support, or are engaged in a conflict with your family or significant other, look no further. We would love to support you and your family as you work through whatever may be holding you back from experiencing the joy of love and family.
What We Offer
Individuals
Individual therapy is a process of one-on-one engagement with a therapist in a safe, caring and confidential environment. Individuals will explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. They will also work through potential challenges or memories with an intention of identifying aspects of their lives they would like to improve and better understand. The therapist will help them create personal goals and work toward a desired change.
Couples
We provide mediation and resolution for both partners in all stages and phases of their relationship. Our goal is to help both individuals feel heard, understood, and loved.
Families
Family therapy focuses on identifying family dynamics and working toward resolving issues that cause distress. We strive to find compromise where every member of the family system feels that they are being heard. Family therapy can include, but is not limited to: parent-child, siblings, re-married or blended families or multiple generations of members.
Parenting Support
The purpose of our parenting support is to support parents and caregivers through managing their children’s behavioral needs. We help parents shape their home environment and family system through individualized parent coaching and support.
How We Help
Self-Care
Self-Care and learning how to practice self-care daily begin with identifying your needs and then preparing how you will take care of yourself: mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually. We are passionate about self-care, especially those in the helping profession (i.e. Social Workers, Therapists, Counselors, Nurses, Teachers, etc.) and realize both the pressure placed on our professions and the need to practice self-care daily for ourselves, colleagues, and clients.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Trauma-informed therapy is centered on the understanding of the emotional, neurological, psychological, social, and biological effects of trauma. When young people experience trauma, their well-being can be adversely affected throughout their lives. We use this as not only a foundation from which our therapy services are provided, but also to help our clients identify, target, and work through their specific trauma and healing.
Crisis Consultation & Referrals
Crisis consultation is a specialized approach to addressing the needs of individuals and families experiencing severe distress. Crisis challenges are typically defined as anything presenting immediately that is beyond our current adaptability to cope. Referrals will be placed if a higher level of care or intervention is required.
Women's Issues
Women can face significant issues that their counterparts may not. We have therapists who deeply care about these issues and want to help in your healing process. These issues range in topic and while men may still be impacted by these issues, they are experienced very differently (i.e. domestic violence, sexual assault, eating disorders and post-partum stress, anxiety & depression).
Interactive Approaches
Play Therapy
Play-therapy is a method of psychotherapy for children in which a therapist gleans symbolic meaning from a child’s fantasies and imaginary play. Observing and participating in a child’s way of play helps create a safe space where the child is able to feel understood. Naturally, the child becomes more relaxed and is more open to communicate their feelings.
Art Therapy
Art therapy encourages individuals at all ages to connect with those deeply creative and intuitive parts of themselves. These parts tend to be neglected but we believe if a safe space is provided, it can reveal and heal the deepest and darkest of wounds.
Music Therapy
Music therapy offers another way of connecting to our inner selves as well as to others. When words are unable to explain, music has historically been a medium we are drawn to for healing, growth, understanding, and connection.
Yoga, Meditation & Mindfulness
Yoga therapy is a specific application of yoga postures, mindfulness exercises, breath-work, and meditation techniques. Yoga therapy is used to relieve the tension, stress, and trauma, which we can hold in our bodies. This practice helps individuals connect with themselves, their bodies and address physical, mental and emotional needs by connecting with their bodies.
Where We Offer Therapy
Office Based
Our preferred method of therapy is face-to-face at our practice office in Howell, MI. We believe the best engagement and relationship building happens in-person. We provide a range of therapy services and want you to get the most from your sessions with your therapist.
Walk & Talk
Walk and talk therapy is a unique practice that combines traditional talk therapy with the physical exercise of walking. Walking stimulates both sides of the brain to promote and maintain mental health. The option to hold sessions outdoors allows clients to move, both literally and figuratively.
Teletherapy
We are currently providing Tele-Therapy due to the government response to COVID-19. We are excited about this new service and our ability to continue supporting mental health in our communities while accepting new clients.
