On January 2, 2025, Unwritten Endings had the privilege of engaging with the residents of Village Manor Senior Living in Hartland. Partnering with Leigh Harter Speech Services, Jackie Olson, LMSW, led a meaningful session on Parkinson’s disease, mental health, and the realities of aging.

The highlight of the day was a simple yet powerful activity: finger painting. For one resident, it was a transformative experience. She shared how she had lost much of the dexterity in her hands, making it difficult to hold tools like scissors or pens. Yet, through finger painting, she rediscovered her ability to create and express herself. Swirling vibrant colors on paper brought joy and a renewed sense of accomplishment.

This event beautifully reflected the mission of Unwritten Endings: supporting individuals in rewriting their stories, no matter the challenges they face. It’s a reminder that creativity and connection can help us embrace new chapters with resilience and grace.

As we continue through January, let’s take inspiration from these residents. Whether through art, conversation, or new experiences, there are countless ways to reimagine the stories we thought were already written.
